Does 'Stopp Werbung' stop all your mail?
No. A Stopp Werbung sticker stops unaddressed advertising, but authorities, recognised charities, political parties and disposal or recycling companies may still deliver. Addressed advertising stops only through the Robinson list.

The real rule
Why the Swiss laugh, and what it means if you're new here.
Many Swiss letterboxes carry a small sticker that says Stopp Werbung, and it works for supermarket flyers. It does not keep out everything: before a vote, the parties' flyers still arrive. As a newcomer, put the sticker on, and keep reading what comes from the authorities and before the votes.
Blüemli's verdict: Clonk. Not everything. It stops unaddressed ads. Authorities, parties and charities may still deliver.
STOPP WERBUNG: literally: “stop advertising”; really: no flyers, please Ueli's Word
Be like Ueli. Put the sticker on. Read the vote flyers anyway.

The rule, explained
SRF Kassensturz explained it in October 2025: a letterbox with a Stopp Werbung sticker may still receive information from authorities, donation appeals from recognised charities, flyers from political parties and mail from disposal and recycling companies. The Aargauer Zeitung put it plainly: for political parties, the sticker does not apply. The sticker only covers unaddressed advertising. If you also want to stop advertising that carries your name and address, the route is the Robinson list, according to SRF. So the sticker is worth having, and your letterbox will still be busy before every vote.
